PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene products, PTFE (TFE) along with Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The world demand for this mineral has grown significantly, as well as the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilized within a lot of purposes from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for personal use. This particular mineral is the crucial raw material inside the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and lots of refrigerants. This increased demand bundled with general shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double during the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to continue in the near future.
