How can YOU get more potential customers to like, trust, and respect you

How many times have you witnessed a politician dodge a straightforward ‘Yes or No’ question with an obviously rehearsed response?

1723469983864?e=1730937600&v=beta&t=9TGGEoZ7wIz8TAPe4w4QB-smmgMwjhs7QSiGx4bhjX8

It makes you question their integrity.

Integrity, at its core, is about being open, honest, and having strong moral principles that you don't just profess, but actively practice.

The Talmud, a central text in Jewish ethics, talks about this concept and introduces the idea of "Geneivat Da'at" — deception.

It states:

"It is forbidden to steal the mind of another." — Chullin 94a

This quote warns us against misleading others, as it is forbidden to steal someone's understanding or perception through deceit. As Entrepreneurs, this means we should never mislead customers, partners, or employees about the nature of our products, services, or intentions.

For example, I once had a client who, when asked a serious question, would respond with:

  1. “Do you want the truth?
  2. “Do you want the whole truth?
  3. “Or do you want the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

When pressed on what he meant, he revealed that there were 'three levels of truth,' depending on who he was talking to, the subject matter at hand, and what he felt the listener needed to hear.

For me, that was a MAJOR red flag. 🚩

From that moment forward, in every conversation, I wondered which "level" of truth he was using.

That's why integrity matters—It should be all or nothing and factual without deception. It’s either the whole truth, or don’t share it. Telling someone “I’m not willing to share or discuss that” is a fair and simple answer, or even saying “I can only share parts” is also perfectly fine. I feel that people respect and stick by those who are honest and straightforward, both in life and business. And I have the facts to back it up:

Research shows that companies known for their integrity outperform others. According to a study by the Edelman Trust Barometer, 81% of consumers said they need to trust a brand in order to buy from them (Edelman, 2020).

So now the question becomes…

How can YOU get more potential customers to like, trust, and respect you so you can grow your business 10x faster, easier, and smarter?👇

  1. Deliver on Your Promises

Nothing speaks louder than consistently under promising and over delivering. Whether it’s the quality of your products, the timeliness of your services, or the customer support you provide, make sure you always meet or exceed expectations. This creates a track record of reliability that can significantly boost your credibility.

2. Stick to Your Principles

Stand by your principles, no matter the situation. Make decisions that align with your ethical beliefs and values, even under pressure or when it might not be for your immediate benefit. You couldn’t pay me $1 million to promote something I don’t support or believe in (or I thought was not going to be beneficial for its user)… And I hope you feel the same way.

3. Treat Everyone Equally

I believe you should treat everyone on your team with the same level of respect and consideration, regardless of their tenure or position. Someone who joined your team 6 months ago deserves the same opportunities and fair treatment as someone who's been with you for 10+ years.

At the end of the day, remember:

In a world full of shortcuts and compromises, maintaining integrity is a sure way to differentiate yourself and achieve lasting success.

Let’s commit to being leaders who practice what we preach and build businesses that not only aim to profit, but also spread good values and honesty.

To your success,

David

90% of startups FAIL because of this…

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

  • 20% of new businesses fail during the first 2 years
  • 45% fail during the first 5 years
  • 65% fail during the first 10 years

Only 25% of businesses make it to 15 years or more.

So why do some startups thrive while others barely survive?

People always ask me how small businesses can stand out in today’s crowded market. After working with Entrepreneurs for 20+ years, I’ve learned that the secret lies not just in what you sell, but in how you tell your story.

Think about it.

You may have a GREAT product or service…But so do thousands of others. To separate yourself from the competition, you must connect with your audience on a deeper level.

  1. According to a study by Forbes, 90% of startups ultimately fail due to a lack of differentiation and a compelling brand story.
  2. Proverbs tells us:

"A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before the great."

— Proverbs 18:16

Your gift is your uniqueness. There is only one you, and only one of your company, so how you share your unique gifts and stories will help your brand stand out from the countless others. In other words, the businesses that succeed are those that create meaningful connections with their customers. It's not just about selling a product or service; it's about selling a result combined with an experience based on your vision.

For example…Let’s say you wanted to open a coffee shop this year. You could have:

  • A menu with boring drinks and pastries
  • Outdated décor that belongs in the 90s
  • Generic customer service—nothing special
  • Or maybe just another Starbucks clone

The problem? Sure, it's functional. But there's no story, no personality, no uniqueness. Besides proximity, what makes a potential customer want to walk into your coffee shop versus the other three down the street?

NOTHING.

Now, imagine a different scenario:

You open a specialty coffee shop that sources beans from small, sustainable organic farms around the world.

  • Baristas know your name and favorite drink
  • Coffee beans are roasted in-house daily to ensure the freshest cup every time
  • The shop is filled with cozy corners, fun board games, and art from local artists

  • Up-and-coming musicians play live acoustic music three nights a week Now, this isn't just a place to get a caffeine fix. It's an experience, a community, a story that people want to be a part of.

The difference is clear.

Now the question is… how do you create your compelling vision and story?

Here are 3 tips to craft a compelling brand story that attracts loyal, lifelong customers like a moth to a flame. 👇

  1. Be Authentic

Authenticity is key. People can tell when you're being genuine, and they can also tell when you're being fake. Share your successes and failures, and let your audience see the real you. Tell stories with a point and an outcome that leads to the journey you want them to take.

2. Create an A+ Customer Journey

Map out every touchpoint your customer has with your brand—from discovery to purchase to post-purchase support. Capture your customers' names and emails and connect with them by providing added value throughout their journey.

Ensure that every interaction is seamless, enjoyable, and aligned with your brand story. (Barista’s knowing your name and favorite drink is a GREAT example!) The goal is to make your customers feel valued and appreciated at every stage.

3. Create Emotional Connections

Humans are naturally emotional beings, and tapping into these feelings can create a deep and lasting bond with your audience. So, whether it's a personal anecdote about your journey or a customer success story, do your best to share the highs and lows, the victories and challenges. Let people see the heart and soul behind your brand… ESPECIALLY in an AI-driven world where everyone is starting to look and sound the same!

So, take a moment to reflect on your story and how you can share it with the world.

Remember, it’s not just about what you sell, but how you tell your story that will make all the difference.

To your success,

David

Focusing on Serving instead of Doing

Hey fellow entrepreneurs! Ever feel like you’re always in go-go-go mode? After 35 years of non-stop hustle, I’m here to share some insights that might just change your perspective. At 55, I’m reflecting on what I missed and what I don’t want to miss moving forward. The key? Shift your focus from just doing to truly serving.

Inspired by the book “The Goal” by Eliyahu Goldratt, I realized we often become the bottleneck in our own businesses. By focusing on our health, surrounding ourselves with people who align with our core values, and leveraging digital tools, we can create more meaningful, balanced lives.
