Treating Everyone Equally

Do you remember the last time you truly felt appreciated at work, regardless of your job title?

In the world of business and Entrepreneurship, it’s easy to get caught up in our race to achieve success.

The continuous drive for profit margins, sales figures, and market share...It’s easy to forget about the most critical aspect that fuels our success – the people who actually make up our organizations.

Today I want to share a powerful lesson that every Entrepreneur should hold dear to their hearts: The importance of treating others equally, regardless of their “rank” or “status”.

Let me give you an example…

I remember watching a movie many years ago (I can’t remember the name right now), where the protagonist, a successful CEO of a large corporation, found himself in a tough situation.

One day, while rushing to an important meeting, the CEO accidentally spilled coffee on his shirt…So he quickly ran to the restroom, where he came across a janitor who was busy mopping the floors.

Frustrated, the CEO barked orders at the janitor to help him clean the mess on his shirt.

“GET THIS STAIN OFF RIGHT NOW OR YOU’RE FIRED!” He yelled.

The janitor, completely taken back by the CEO's tone, quietly obliged.

Fast forward many years later, and the CEO’s company was facing MAJOR financial troubles. In short, they needed a vital partnership with another organization to stay afloat.

So as the CEO entered the negotiation room, he was shocked to find the VERY SAME JANITOR from all those years before, now introducing himself as the CEO for the other company.

Needless to say, the negotiations didn't go well, and the CEO's company suffered greatly as a result of his past behavior.

Quite the lesson learned, don’t you think?

This movie's plot serves as a powerful reminder that every interaction we have, no matter how seemingly insignificant, can have a lasting impact on our lives and our businesses.

In this particular case, the CEO's failure to treat the janitor with respect and dignity ultimately cost him (and his company) dearly.

That’s why as Entrepreneurs and business leaders, it's crucial to remember that everyone has the potential to contribute to our success.

When we treat everyone in our organization equally, we create a positive and productive work environment that benefits not just our team, but our bottom line as well.

In contrast, when we treat people poorly or with disrespect, we not only damage our reputation…We also risk losing valuable connections and opportunities that could have otherwise propelled our business forward.

And now that I think about it, this reminds me of a time during my days at Fabri-Kal, when I was tasked with building a new division.

(In case you don’t know, Fabri-Kal is a manufacturing company that produced everything from plastic cups to deli containers).

One day, I decided to take a walk around our plant up in Hazleton, PA.

I chatted with a group of workers who were stationed along a conveyor belt, packing cups into plastic bags. They inspected each cup, sealed the bags, and prepared them for shipment.

During our conversation, one worker said, "Well David, my job isn't really that important compared to yours."

Curious, I asked, "Why would you say that?"

She replied, "Well, you're building the whole division... My job is just to pack cups."

To say I was thrown off guard would be an understatement.

I mean, here I am, standing among the hardworking backbone of our company, hearing one of them downplay the significance of her role.

So, I looked at her and said:

"Let me tell you something…If you don't inspect the product and our quality drops, we lose customers. If we lose customers our reputation takes a hit, then I can't grow the company. So, in reality, YOU have the MOST IMPORTANT job!”

You should have seen the change in her demeanor. A broad smile spread across her face as she digested what I'd just said.

The following day, I brought a client to meet our team. The same worker was there, this time beaming with pride.

Her and her co-workers' interaction with the client was genuine and enthusiastic. It was clear that our earlier conversation really impacted her perception of her role within the company.

The client, needless to say, was thoroughly impressed.

Her passion and commitment was undeniable. Her interaction with the client showcased not just the importance of their role, but also the collective spirit of our entire team.

This brings us back to where we started: The importance of treating everyone equally, no matter their role in the organization.

Remember, every person in a company matters. Each one of us is a crucial cog in the machine. If even a single piece is missing, the entire operation grinds to a halt.

It's a lesson many overlook, but one we should all strive to remember.

So, the next time you're tempted to disregard someone because of their position or status, remember the lesson from these stories and the potential consequences of such actions.

As the old saying goes… “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” — Wendy Mass

To your success,

David

🍎 How to Think Different™ Like Steve Jobs

Ever heard the saying, "Give the customers what they want"?

Well, Steve Jobs was famous for taking a different approach. He said: "Our job is to figure out what they're going to want before they do."

This might seem counterintuitive at first glance, but in reality, this mindset challenges us to think outside the box and push the boundaries of what's possible.

By anticipating our customers' needs, we can develop innovative products and services that resonate with our target audience and set our business apart from the competition.

For example, AI has been all the rage lately…And many don’t know whether it will save the world or ruin it.

But among all the chatter, we realized that we could take advantage of the power of AI to conduct targeted outreach for our clients at MASSIVE scale, while maintaining an ultra-personalized touch.

What do I mean by that?

In today's fast-paced world, people are bombarded with dozens of marketing emails every single day.

Most of these emails either get marked as spam or are immediately deleted by the recipient, never making a real impact.

Now, imagine sending individual emails, carefully crafted to highlight the things we admire about each recipient's business, mission, vision, and values.

…While at the same time sending a custom sales or marketing recommendation they could implement  right away, providing them with valuable growth insights for their business.

Sounds really time-consuming, don’t you think?

I mean, surely nobody could dedicate 100+ hours per week to send out these hyper-personalized emails to thousands of individual companies…

Well, that’s exactly the reason why I launched Best Buyer AI: A new technology that automates the process of sending out these emails, combining the power of AI with a genuine human touch at massive scale, with the ability to actually track performance metrics.

This ensures our outreach not only stands out from the crowd like a sore thumb, but also delivers REAL VALUE to the recipients.

Now, other companies might be dabbling in bits and pieces of this concept, but no other company aside from ours has been able to achieve this level of personalization at the SCALE that we're doing it.

That's where we see a revolutionary pivot for us in order to serve our clients at a higher level.

So by incorporating Steve Jobs' philosophy and leveraging cutting-edge AI technology, we're able to provide a unique and impactful service that truly sets us apart in the market.

So now, the question becomes…How can you adopt this forward-thinking approach in YOUR own business?

To best answer that question, let’s take a look at two other well-respected companies that adopted this philosophy and ended up transforming their respective markets. 👇

  1. Netflix and the Shift to Streaming

Once upon a time, Netflix was a humble DVD rental service that competed with brick-and-mortar stores like Blockbuster.

But as the company grew, they began to see the writing on the wall as the internet evolved and recognized the potential of streaming content.

So instead of waiting for customers to demand it, they boldly took the leap and invested heavily in creating a seamless streaming platform in 2007.

Today, Netflix is a household name, while other physical movie stores like Blockbuster have become a nostalgic memory.

(Funny enough, Blockbuster actually had the opportunity to BUY Netflix for only $50 million back in the early 2000s! Can you believe it?)

Netflix's story is a prime example of how being able to identify and capitalize on emerging trends EARLY can help your business jump, skip, and leap over your competitors.

  1. Tesla and the Electric Vehicle Revolution

Back when electric cars seemed like a futuristic fantasy, most Entrepreneurs shied away from the challenge of starting an EV company.

Elon Musk, however, embraced the risk and dove headfirst into the world of electric vehicles when he bought Tesla Motors in 2004 for only $6.5 million.

The odds were stacked against him, and even Musk himself admitted that starting an electric car company was, quote, "idiocy squared."

Regardless, he strongly believed in Steve Jobs’ philosophy of giving people something they didn't even know they wanted yet, and boy…Did it pay off!

In 2008, Tesla introduced the Roadster, a sleek and powerful electric sports car that shattered all preconceived notions about what an EV could be.

It proved that electric cars could be both stylish and high-performance, making the world sit up and FINALLY start paying attention.

Here's a picture of a young Elon Musk with the first-ever Tesla Roadster.👇

1695836192673?e=1712793600&v=beta&t=V-LBhLzC0KU5FoSJ5_wcMuun-Vitop4dL_zQO6bXVlU

As Tesla continued to innovate and push the boundaries, other automakers were left scrambling to catch up.

The once-skeptical market started to shift, and before long, Tesla became the highest-valued car company in the world, with a market cap of over $500 billion (it even hit over a TRILLION in 2021)!

Tesla's meteoric rise just goes to show the true power of foresight and calculated risk-taking. Don’t you think?

Now it's time to ask yourself: How can YOU challenge the status quo and create game-changing products or services for your own business?

To your success,

🤖 My Favorite AI Tools for 2023

Do you remember the movie “The Terminator”?

It’s a classic sci-fi film from 1984 where an AI-powered cyborg assassin from the future travels back in time to kill the leader of the human resistance.

In the movie, AI is portrayed as a sinister and destructive force that threatens to wipe out humanity.

But don’t worry, that’s just fiction…Unless we believe what Elon has to say.

But that’s a discussion for another time.

I believe AI is possibly one of the most powerful and beneficial technologies ever created for Entrepreneurs.

It can help us automate repetitive tasks, enhance customer experience, generate insights, code websites and apps, and so much more.

(Isn’t it funny how the world of AI has evolved? From an ominous movie villain to a game-changing technology that's transforming the way we work…)

That’s why today, I’m going to share with you my 3 favorite AI tools of 2023 that can help your business make more money (aside from the obvious ChatGPT which I’ve talked about in a previous newsletter).

Let’s get started. 👇

  1. AI Agents

Don't you hate it when you're overwhelmed with a mountain of tasks you need to complete, leaving you with little to no time to focus on what truly matters in your business?

Have you ever wished you could somehow clone yourself and delegate your workload to your doppelganger?

Call me crazy, but believe it or not…Now you CAN!

Well, Kind of.

Just a few weeks ago, this new technology came out that some are saying will soon be 100x more powerful than ChatGPT — It’s called “AI Agents”.

These AI Agents act as your very own digital sidekick and are capable of tackling a wide range of tasks from just a single prompt, including:

  • Creating custom-made Shopify stores
  • Managing your calendar and email
  • Coding entire websites and apps
  • Conducting market research
  • Handling customer inquiries
  • …And so much more!

They learn from you, adapt to your preferences, and streamline your day-to-day operations, giving you more time to focus on scaling your business.

The only problem?

This technology is still brand new and hasn’t been 100% perfected yet…Similar to the early days of the internet, when it was slow and filled with bugs and glitches.

But as time goes on, these AI Agents will undoubtedly become more sophisticated, efficient, and capable of seamlessly integrating into your business, revolutionizing the way you work and maximize productivity.

  1. Midjourney AI

Picture this: You're in the midst of launching a new product or service, and you need eye-catching visuals to make it stand out.

You could spend hours finding for the perfect designer or fumbling with complicated design software…

But what if I told you there's a better way?

Midjourney is a groundbreaking new AI tool that's revolutionizing the world of design for Entrepreneurs like you and me.

All you have to do is provide this tool with a simple text prompt, and it will generate virtually any image you can dream up.

No more spending countless hours tweaking designs — Just describe it, and Midjourney AI will create it.

For example, I’m scrolling through their community showcase and one of their users gave the bot this prompt:

“Create a cute fluffy bunny grumpily working on her trip itinerary.”

…And this is what Midjourney came up with. 👇

Isn't that adorable?

Now, I know what you're thinking:

"David, A grumpy bunny working on a trip itinerary might not be the most useful image for my business…"

And I know that. But just imagine the wide range of use cases where this tool can genuinely prove beneficial for your brand, like creating:

  • Eye-catching logos
  • Social media graphics that grab your audience's attention
  • Captivating website banners and headers
  • Unique product packaging designs
  • Custom illustrations for blog posts or presentations

Remember…Unique content is what makes you stand out from your competition.

Unique content is more engaging and invites your viewers resonate with your brand and message at a higher level.

  1. Adobe Firefly

And now, for the grand finale...

Let me introduce you to Firefly: A new AI tool from Adobe that can cut your video editing time down by more than 90%!

Some of us can spend hours wrestling with complex video editing software, feeling like we need a degree in film production if we want to do anything more than trim a clip.

Well, those days are officially OVER.

No more struggling to apply advanced video filters and enhancements.

No more searching for the right background music.

No more getting lost in layer management.

And the best part?

Adobe Firefly's intuitive interface makes it super EASY to navigate, even for those who are new to the world of video editing.

So there you have it — Those are my top 3 favorite and POWERFUL AI tools of 2023 (so far, at least).

As the world of AI continues to advance, I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with the latest and greatest tools that can help grow your business.

To your success,

David

P.S. I know it’s not always easy to find other successful Entrepreneurs to connect with, share your experiences, ask for advice, and learn from their experiences… So if the opportunity to spend 2 days with me, my partner Bob, and a carefully curated group of amazing $1M+ Entrepreneurs like you (sharing, growing, and discovering our exact strategy to scale beyond $10M+) sounds good, reply or message me with (TELL ME MORE) and we can start the conversation to see if an invite is in order.

🤝 How to Win Your Customers' Trust in 2023

Imagine walking into a store with no cashiers or employees in sight…

You browse the shelves, choose your items, and then, instead of waiting in line to pay, you simply drop the exact amount of money you owe in a jar and walk out.

Sounds like a scene from a utopian movie, right?

Well, I’m here to tell you that in some parts of the world, this "utopian" concept actually EXISTS!

Take the village of Inakadate in northern Japan, for example. Here, you'll find unmanned shops, known as "mujin hanbai," where locals and visitors alike can purchase produce, snacks, and other goods on the honor system.

They simply pick up what they need, and leave their money in a jar or box. No supervision required.

1695051318962?e=1712188800&v=beta&t=ry7S-KwziHKfNzoihoaRrkKNTFTpR_4AOER4RHB9TgE

At the heart of this unconventional system is trust: The belief that people will do the right thing and uphold their end of the bargain.

This level of trust fosters a strong sense of community and cooperation, which can help maintain a thriving and harmonious society.

But trust isn't just important in idyllic Japanese villages; it also plays a vital role in the world of Entrepreneurship as well.

Trust is the cornerstone of any successful business, and building it with your clients and team members should be one of your TOP priorities.

In fact, I want to share with you a personal story that highlights just how important trust really is.

It was around 14 years ago, and I was getting ready to speak at my first-ever live event…When I suddenly realized that my credit card processing system wasn’t properly set up.

My heart raced as I tried to remain calm, but inside, I was panicking.

I knew I couldn't afford any hiccups at this crucial moment. My reputation and the success of the event were on the line.

I needed help…And I needed help FAST.

That's when Mr. X, the leader of an outside sales team we hired to help manage the event, graciously offered to use his credit card processing and promised to transfer the money to us when he got it (minus a small cut for the inconvenience).

Feeling a sense of relief, I agreed, believing that we had found a solution in the nick of time.

The event went on, and I poured my heart and soul into my presentation (and even covered for the main headline that no-showed at the last minute).

But I was completely unaware of the trouble that was brewing behind the scenes.

As the two-day event came to a close, I felt a mix of exhaustion and satisfaction, knowing that I had given my all... But my world came crashing down when I learned that Mr. X had betrayed my trust about 30 days later.

He had told me that he needed 90 days to make sure there were no chargebacks. This seemed reasonable, so I didn’t think much of it at the time.

To make a long story short, it’s now been 14 years later and I still never ended up getting paid from the event collections.

Mr. X kept every single cent we made that weekend for himself.

The sting of his deception left me feeling betrayed, but it taught me a valuable lesson that I will NEVER forget:

Trust is a lot like a delicate spider web — it takes time to build, yet it can be broken within a split second.

So now the question becomes…

How can you build this oh-so-important trust factor with your clients?

Let's break it down in 3 easy steps…👇

  1. Authenticity: Be Genuine, Be YOU

People can smell a fake from a mile away. It's like trying to pass off a knockoff designer bag as the real deal — It just isn't the same.

To establish trust, you must present your true, authentic self to your audience. Share your story, your passions, and your "why."

By doing so, you'll connect with people on a deeper level and encourage long-lasting, meaningful relationships.

  1. Reliability: Be Someone Others Can Count On

Ever heard the phrase: "Actions speak louder than words?"

Our core values include the phrase, “DO WHAT YOU SAY.” This timeless saying rings especially true when it comes to building trust in the Entrepreneurial world.

To establish yourself as a reliable and trustworthy figure, you need to consistently over-deliver on your promises, meet deadlines, and provide top-notch customer service.

Your audience should feel confident that they can depend on you, no matter the circumstance.

Here are a few ways to showcase your reliability:

  • Set realistic expectations: Be upfront with your customers about what they can expect from your product or service — This way, you're less likely to disappoint and more likely to exceed their needs.
  • Communicate proactively: Keep your clients in the loop about project updates or any changes that may affect them. This level of transparency goes a LONG way in building trust and creating lifelong relationships.
  • Address issues promptly: When problems arise (and they will), tackle them head-on and find solutions quickly. Showing that you're committed to resolving issues demonstrates your dedication to their satisfaction.

  1. Expertise: Know Your Stuff and Show It

Let's face it: We live in a world where not everyone lives up to what they advertise. This is what inspired me to start my company (another story for a different day…)

(How often have you opened YouTube and heard someone claim that they can teach you to make a million dollars in just 48 hours?)

That’s why it's now more crucial than ever to stand out from the crowd and prove your worth as an Entrepreneur in order to gain your customers’ trust.

There are many ways to do this, but the one I love doing the most is through NETWORKING.

Networking offers a unique opportunity to showcase our authenticity and dedication to our craft.

Because as we engage in meaningful conversations, exchange ideas, and add value while collaborating with fellow Entrepreneurs, we naturally build rapport with others who can attest to our expertise and the integrity of our businesses.

So, as you continue on your week, remember to focus on building trust in your Entrepreneurial journey… Just like the mujin hanbai shops in Japan.

Because by making it our cornerstone, we can create thriving businesses and a much more interconnected world.

To your success,

David
